Jacob & Co. Introduces New Epic X Series
While the Astronomia and Bugatti models are arguably the most striking replica luxury watch Jacob & Co. has ever produced (remember, there's some serious watchmaking behind them), there's another collection with deep ties to the brand, but Less enthusiastic...so to speak! On the occasion of Geneva Watch Days in 2022, the Epic X, the brand's more classic watch, has been refreshed with new design elements, a new all-steel exterior and a new shape. But still with the iconic and bold X design that makes this watch so eye-catching.
Most elements of the case have had some work compared to the previous generation of watches we've seen in this article. The watch, which played an important role in building the brand's collection, was first launched in 2015 with a distinctively shaped case with X-shaped lugs. Not the most common watch, but full of personality.
This year, the Epic X replica luxury watch has a slightly sleeker look and an all-steel finish. Its 44mm case has been reworked with smooth lugs and a new case that extends beyond the case circle to form a set of crown guards. Between them, the redesigned crown showcases two tiers of notched steel tips. It also features colored aluminum elements, available in vivid blue, vibrant green, and black on the black DLC steel Epic X. The most characteristic element, the X-shape that gives the collection its name, consists of a pair of lugs interconnected by the vertical bridges of the skeletonized movement, forming a continuous shape throughout the creation. All these unique characteristics have been preserved and enhanced in the new series. The once stepped bezel is now smooth and polished with steeper angles.
The highlight of the collection is the stainless steel model, available on a honeycomb rubber strap or a new bracelet, derived from the unique angles and curves of the case. Each link in the 5-bar row is a polished and chamfered three-dimensional sculpture with a half-octagonal profile and curved base. The sapphire crystal on top reveals most of the movement inside the Epic X, along with its original vertically aligned structure. Skeletonized to reveal the balance wheel at 6 o'clock and the open barrel at 12 o'clock. Most elements of the dial match the case – whether in steel, gold or DLC steel – and create continuity between mechanism and mechanism.
Inside the new Epic X is a slightly modified version of the hand-wound movement JCAM45. It is adjusted by a balance wheel with adjustment screw and beats at 4Hz. The power reserve is 48 hours.
